GreatDay, LLC. Logo and Business Card Design

Having a great day? Count me in! Here's the thing, all day every day everyone, and I mean everyone and their dog (don't we wish) are saying "Have a great day". Whether it be to a customer getting their first cup of joe for the day, a client walking away from an awesome meeting, or you're high school sweetheart wishing you good luck on your science exam. Anyone who is in good spirits is going to be wishing another to have a great day. 

What a great name for a company! Hats off to this company who conceptualized  this unique name and strategically applied it to what they love to do for their clients! And lucky me to have had the privilege working with the brains behind GreatDay, LLC and having the opportunity to bring their vision to life in this awesome logo design! In the paragraph below you will discover why I chose the colors and shape for this particular logo. 

THE FOUNDATION

My rule of thumb when working with a client is to learn as much about them as you can. Learn about their company, who their target market is, who 'they' are as individuals... All these are so important when choosing colors for a new logo. This particular project was a 're-brand'. The original logo was red and black. It had a similar shape with just one red swish positioned to the left of the words GreatDay. 

THE COLOR PALETTE

Another rule of thumb: Limit your color palette to 2 colors and one shade on the gray scale. I suggest this because too much can KILL a design and what it is attempting to accomplish. Guess what?
Less is More. Ring a bell? 

I was inspired by the lightness of air when choosing my shade of blue because of the lightness of air when breathing as we speak. 

The typical color companies usually choose in the corporate world is BLUE. Its everywhere! It's very versatile representing depth like that of the ocean. Is it just me, or does it seem to be almost everyone's 
favorite color... Proven to be true in my book, it must be because so many of the most beautiful and perfectly designed logos are a shade of blue or have a shade of blue somewhere in them. With that said,   I chose TEAL for a number of reasons: 

1: It is BLUE and it is GREEN. GreatDay, LLC is a corporation therefore the application of blue is appropriate yet does not fall into the typicality of all the other companies thus setting GreatDay, LLC apart from the crowd forcing individuality. 

I added green as my secondary color because:

1: When discussing options with RW, President and Co-founder, he was moving me in the direction of keeping the image consistent, not too busy nor edgy and light, not agressive. Green was the perfect compliment as it blends quite nicely with the teal. 

Gray was the third option I chose tying the two blends of color together creating a subtle separation at the same time. 

PLACEMENT AND POSITIONING OF THE LINES

It is always important to have negative space in all compositions. The placement of the arcs that create the speak bubble are positioned to create movement and a consistent balance of negative space throughout.


THE SPEAK BUBBLE

1: You 'SPEAK' the words great day, right? Wouldn't it be fun if we could actually see our words in speak bubbles!? Kind of like how cool it is when I see my breath on a cold, snowy day.... 

Well, why not apply it to a logo for a company who's intentions are to help your company communicate better? That is the image they want to portray to its clients and that, my friends, speaks volumes.
